Curaleaf Holdings Opens New Dispensary in Florida

Curaleaf Holdings (CURA.TO) has opened a new location in Tampa Bay area, boosting its retail footprint to 77 dispensaries in Florida and 178 nationwide, the cannabis company said Friday.

The Curaleaf Riverview store features a broad range of products and brands for medical patients, the company said.

A grand opening celebration is scheduled on Sept. 18-19, according to Curaleaf.

"This acceleration in the Florida market reflects our long-term strategy to strengthen our presence in this fast-growing medical cannabis market," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Boris Jordan said.

"As we continue to expand, we are focused on providing access to comprehensive, curated products offerings and patient-centered services that enhance the shopping experience," Jordan added.

AGF Management (AGF-B.TO) Thursday after trade said total assets under management (AUM) and fee-earning assets jumped 31% year over year to CA$74.2 billion as at Aug. 31.This was 1.2% lower than the CA$75.1 billion that was reported on July 31, the company said.AGF shares closed up CA$0.90 at CA$21.61 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Definity Financial Estimates a CA$130 Million Hit From July-August Catastrophe Losses

Definity Financial (DFY.TO) said Thursday it expects catastrophe losses in July and August to reduce underwriting income by about CA$130 million net of reinsurance recoveries.It equals CA$0.79 per share after taxes and reinsurance, the company said.The losses are due to severe rainstorms and flooding in Ontario and Alberta in July, as well as flooding in Ontario and wildfires in British Columbia in August.Definity said its third-quarter catastrophe losses so far are "trending meaningfully" above the full-quarter market consensus estimate of CA$93 million. The company plans to provide a finalized update for the quarter in the first half of October.The company's shares closed down CA$1.29 to CA$73.65 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
