China's broad M2 money supply grew 7.5% year over year to 356.81 trillion yuan as of the end of August, according to data from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) on Monday.
The growth rate was softer than the 7.7% expansion recorded in the previous month. It missed the consensus forecast of a 7.7% increase tracked by Trading Economics.
Meanwhile, narrow money supply (M1) rose 4.1% year over year to 115.77 trillion yuan.
