China's fixed asset investment contracted 7.2% year over year in the first eight months of the year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.
The reading was higher than the 6.7% contraction recorded in the prior period, and missed the consensus forecast of a 7.0% contraction tracked by Investing.com.
Investment in infrastructure declined 4% year over year, while manufacturing sector investment fell 2.3%. Meanwhile, property development investment slipped 19.9% during the period.
