Benton Resources and Metals Creek Begin Hydrogen-Helium Soil Gas Sampling at Smoking Gun and Parson's Pond

Benton Resources (BEX.V) and Metals Creek Resources (MEK.V) have begun two "large scale" regional soil gas programs at Parson's Pond and Smoking Gun Hydrogen-Helium projects in Newfoundland, the companies said Wednesday in separate releases.

The companies expect to collect roughly 650 to 750 samples in the soil sampling program. The samples will be analyzed for Hydrogen, Helium, Neon, CO2, and C1-C4 Hydrocarbons, the companies added.

Benton's shares were last seen down C$0.005, or 5.8%, at C$0.08, and Metals Creek's shares were last seen up C$0.005, or 10%, to C$0.055, on the TSX Venture Exchange.

First Quantum Minerals Swings to a Q2 Loss Even as Revenue Rises; 2026 Outlook Maintained

First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) after trade Tuesday reported a Q2 adjusted loss of $0.13 per share, compared with adjusted earnings of $0.02 per share a year ago.Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $0.06 per share.Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $1.52 billion, up from $1.23 billion a year earlier.Analysts expected revenue of $1.40 billion.The company said its 2026 guidance remains unchanged, however, it "continues to note a potential impact to C1 copper cash costs of approximately $0.25 per lb to reflect the year-to-date impact of higher fuel prices and Zambian kwacha rates as well as potential further impact if current fuel prices and Zambian kwacha rates persist for the remainder of the year."
