Asian Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise in Wednesday Trading

Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking higher Wednesday morning, rising 0.63% to 2,846.43 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index.

From North Asia, the gainers were led by real estate and digital security company Eason Technology (DXF) and mobile big data provider Aurora Mobile (JG), which advanced 10% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by solar panel maker JinkoSolar (JKS) and fintech firm LexinFintech (LX), which increased 1.7% and 1.2% respectively.

The decliners from North Asia were led by online entertainment platform Bilibili (BILI) and utilities company Korea Electric Power (KEP), which fell 6.2% and 5.3% respectively. They were followed by automotive marketplaces Token Cat (TC) and Autohome (ATHM), which were down 5% and 2.3% respectively.

From South Asia, the gainers were led by computer hardware maker Canaan (CAN) and telecommunications operator Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK), which rose 5.2% and 1.5% respectively. They were followed by lender ICICI Bank (IBN) and IT firm Sify Technologies (SIFY), which were up 0.6% and 0.5% respectively.

The decliners from South Asia were led by fintech firm Trident Digital Tech (TDTH) and IT firm Infosys (INFY), which dropped 14% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by tech conglomerate Sea (SE) and telecommunications operator PLDT (PHI), which lost 2% and 0.4% respectively.

However, issued building permits declined 0.7% to 5,162 in the reporting month from a year ago, the short-term business indicators statistics report showed.In corporate news, Saudi artificial intelligence company Humain reportedly engaged Goldman Sachs to advise on a financing package for the construction of data centers in Riyadh, which could potentially be worth 20 billion Saudi riyals. The Public Investment Fund unit is also looking to finance graphics processing unit chips for 2 gigawatts of capacity, which represents a third of its 2034 target, Reuters reported, citing sources.On the earnings front, Etihad GO Telecom Co. (SASE:7040) logged a 17.73% year-over-year jump in net profit, while revenue grew 31.19% for the fiscal year ended March 31. Shares of the Saudi Arabia-listed telecommunications group closed 0.37% higher.

Emirati Equities slipped back into negative territory as markets await the release of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes later in the day.At the close of Wednesday trading, the FTSE ADX General Index was down 0.521%, while the DFM General Index declined 0.618%.On the economic calendar today are the closely watched minutes from the FOMC's meeting in April, where the committee voted to keep the interest rates steady in the 3.50% to 3.75% range due to high inflation and energy prices, driven by ongoing developments in the Middle East. The minutes will provide investors with insights into the US Federal Reserve's stance on future monetary policies."Another event to watch today is the release of April's FOMC minutes, which will shed more light on the reasoning for the three dissenters who preferred a less dovish message. Any hints that went as far as adding rate hikes to the discussion could underpin the recent hawkish repricing and add support for the dollar," analysts at ING said.On the geopolitical front, Iran threatened to extend the war beyond the Middle East if the US resumes its attacks. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he had been an hour away from relaunching strikes before postponing them at the request of Gulf countries.Back home and on the corporate side, FAB Securities reiterated Abu Dhabi Ports Co. (ADX:ADPORTS), d/b/a AD Ports Group, buy rating and its price target of 7.35 Emirati dirhams after the port and industrial zones developer's first-quarter attributable net profit exceeded the financial services firm's expectations. Its shares closed 0.45% higher.Dubai-listed Gulf Navigation (DFM:GULFNAV) returned to profit in the first quarter, while revenue rose year over year. Shares of the maritime and shipping company were 3.26% in the green at the time of closing.
