The Asian Development Bank raised its economic growth forecast for Asia and the Pacific for 2026, supported by strong investment in India and robust technology exports in developing Southeast Asia.
In its Asian Development Outlook update published on Wednesday, the ADB expects the region's economy to grow 5% in 2026, up 0.1 percentage point from the July estimate. The forecast remains below the region's 5.5% growth in 2025.
For 2027, the real GDP growth estimate was unchanged at 5.1%.
The ADB trimmed its inflation forecast for the developing APAC region to 4.2% in 2026 from 4.3% in July, but raised its 2027 projection to 3.5% from 3.4%.
The bank said energy disruptions and a very strong El Niño could add to inflationary pressures.
