Thailand Greenlights Nine Investment Projects Worth $2 Billion
Thailand has approved nine investment projects worth 66.3 billion baht ($1.99 billion) across artificial intelligence, advanced electronics, aviation, clean energy and food manufacturing, the country's investment board said Wednesday.The initiative came as Thailand seeks to attract global companies relocating supply chains to Southeast Asia. The approvals include AI infrastructure by Japan's Datasection (TYO:3905), electronics materials plants by South Korea's Doosan Electro-Materials, and Taiwan Union Technology (TPE:6274), and a glass fiber fabric facility by Fulltech Fiber Glass (TPE:1815).Other major investments include Nestlé (Thai) expanding its coffee production facilities, Thai Airways (BKK:THAI) leasing eight passenger aircraft, and two wind power projects by Lomrak Green Energy.The Thailand Board of Investment said it has also expanded its energy oversight body to streamline approvals for data center projects and ensure adequate power and clean energy supply. The government is rolling out measures, including dedicated electricity tariffs, faster grid upgrades and support for direct renewable power purchases to accommodate future high-tech investments.
