The Tadawul All Share Index continued its losing streak on Wednesday, falling 0.79%, as the escalating geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran dampened investor sentiment.The US and Iran's fresh exchange of strikes dominated global headlines. The US targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' air defences, radar systems and communication sites, among others.Iran, on the other hand, launched attacks on US airbases, regional headquarters and other US assets in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq, media reports said."Developments in recent days brought risks to regional oil supplies back into focus. We've seen oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz despite the stalemate between the US and Iran, but rising tensions clearly put crossings at risk," ING said. "Given disruptions to Middle East and Russian diesel exports, and with little sign of an imminent recovery, middle distillate cracks are likely to remain highly elevated and volatile, particularly as we move towards seasonally stronger demand. The global refining system has little slack to make up for the disruptions we are currently seeing."Back at home, Gulf General Cooperative Insurance (SASE:8260) shares ticked up 0.47% as it disclosed plans to decrease its capital to 124 million Saudi riyals, then subsequently raise it to 300 million riyals.Meanwhile, Arab National Bank (SASE:1080) launched its US-denominated additional tier 1 capital sukuk offering to eligible investors. Tadawul All Share Index Starts September Lower Amid Oil Supply Concerns

Saudi Exchange-traded shares started the first trading day of September lower amid market jitters over the persistent US-Iran conflict and its effect on oil supply.At the close of Tuesday trading, the Tadawul All Share Index was down 0.24%. Naseej International Trading Co. (SASE:1213) lost the most during the session at 4.07% in the red."Oil rose for a second session as fresh hostilities between the US and Iran raised concerns about prolonged disruptions to energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent climbed toward $92 a barrel after US forces hit an island in Hormuz, and Iran retaliated with attacks on the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, marking the first exchange of fire in about a month. West Texas Intermediate traded near $87 after advancing 2.8% on Monday, the biggest gain in three weeks," United Securities said in a note.Speaking of oil, the Sidr and Senegal ⁠Prosperity vessels were struck as they were traveling in the Strait of Hormuz. The supertankers were each carrying 2 million barrels of Saudi Arabian crude.In other news, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the Middle Eastern country will immediately reciprocate if the US adheres to its memorandum of understanding that was signed in June. Pezeshkian added that Iran was also open to reopening negotiations to end the war.Back at home, Arab National Bank (SASE:1080) shares rose 0.76% as it disclosed its plan to issue US dollar-denominated additional tier 1 capital sukuk. The offer aims to boost the lender's tier 1 capital.Meanwhile, Future Vision for Health Training Co. (SASE:9632) entered into a deal to implement professional diploma programs at Taif University's research and consulting center. Shares of the health education company closed 4.32% in the green.

The Tadawul All Share Index closed Tuesday 0.19% in the red as market jitters regarding the uncertainty of the US-Iran peace talks happening sent investors into risk-off mode.As the end of the two-week ceasefire looms, Iran and the US are set to meet in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing a Pakistani source. The US will send Vice President JD Vance for the discussions, with the Iranian delegation sending uncertain signals about its participation."Various reporting suggests that Vice President Vance is expected depart to Islamabad today, and we also saw reporting by the New York Times and others that Iran is also sending a team to Islamabad for negotiations. With a spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry earlier saying that Tehran had no plans to attend the negotiations, this has given a more positive light on the talks going ahead, though it remains unclear who would lead the Iranian delegation," Deutsche Bank Research said in a note.Back at home, Saudi National Bank (SASE:1180), Riyad Bank (SASE:1010), Al Rajhi Bank (SASE:1120), and Arab National Bank (SASE:1080) posted their financial statements for the first quarter of 2026.
