New Zealand shares fell on Friday, as investors await comments on the monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve's new chair, Kevin Warsh, later in the day.The S&P/NZX 50 Index fell 0.81% or 111.87 points to close at 13,768.18.Meanwhile, Iran and Oman had agreed on administering traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and sharing revenues, causing Brent crude oil futures to fall to around $89.On Thursday, the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.6%, the S&P 500 rose 0.7%, and the Dow Jones climbed 0.2%.In domestic news, the ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence index for New Zealand eased by one point in August to 98, still under par but 18 points higher than a low struck in April.The number of enterprises in New Zealand hit 601,614 in July, down from 603,549 in June, according to data by Stats NZ.New Zealand's filled jobs in July rose 0.3% in seasonally adjusted terms to 2.36 million filled jobs in all industries compared with the previous month, according to a report by Stats NZ.In corporate news, Channel Infrastructure (ASX:CHI, NZE:CHI) logged NZ$0.044 in earnings per share for the first half, compared with NZ$0.028 a year ago. Channel Infrastructure Signs 15-Year Fuel Storage Deal With BP

Channel Infrastructure (ASX:CHI, NZE:CHI) secured a 15-year contract with oil giant BP to provide additional jet and diesel fuel storage at Marsden Point, expected to generate around NZ$130 million in revenue, before indexation to the Producer Price Index, from the third quarter of 2028, according to a Friday filing with the New Zealand bourse.The company plans to invest NZ$65 to NZ$70 million in growth capital expenditure between 2026 and 2028, funded through existing debt facilities, to repurpose tanks and infrastructure, with work set to begin in September, per the filing.The company increased its contracted storage capacity at Marsden Point by 40% over the past three months and plans to raise annual operating expenditure by NZ$700,000 to NZ$900,000 to support import terminal operations and its growth pipeline, the filing added.

Channel Infrastructure Reports Fuel Throughput Decline for June Quarter

Channel Infrastructure (ASX:CHI, NZE:CHI) said its fuel throughput for the June quarter fell 2% from a year earlier to 802 million liters amid higher fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.The company said it completed an infrastructure upgrade at the Marsden Point-to-Auckland pipeline near the end of the June quarter, with petrol throughput temporarily slowed to accommodate the revamp.The quarter's jet throughput was slightly behind year-ago volumes, due to fewer flights by Middle Eastern carriers, but remains broadly in line with the Channel's expectations for the year to date, the company said.It added that net borrowings increased to NZ$346 million as of June 30 from NZ$338 million at the end of March, as spending on New Zealand government diesel storage accelerated.
