Samsung SDS (KRX:018260) reported a 5% year-over-year increase in second-quarter net income attributable to shareholders to 179.1 billion won from 170.6 billion won.The IT services provider's revenue rose 5.9% to 3.718 trillion won from 3.512 trillion won in the three months ended June 30, according to a Thursday filing with the Korea Exchange.For the first half, net income attributable to shareholders fell 29% to 271.4 billion won from 382.1 billion won a year earlier, while revenue edged up 1% to 7.071 trillion won.

Samsung SDS on Monday launched its Neural Processing Unit as a Service, based on Furiosa AI's second-generation Renegade processor on its Samsung Cloud Platform, according to a Monday release.The domestically developed NPU is designed for AI inference and offers higher power efficiency and better cost-effectiveness than graphics processing units when running pre-trained AI models.Samsung said that its NPUaaS customers can use the service on a subscription model through SCP without purchasing NPU servers directly or deploying them in their own data centers.The service can be integrated with various SCP products, including storage, compute, and high-speed networks.
