AtkinsRealis Group Confirms 925-megawatt Reactor Submission to CNSC

AtkinsRealis Group (ATRL.TO) said Monday it has submitted a plan to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for a 925-megawatt nuclear reactor, noting this differs from what is shown on the regulator's website and that it is working to correct the information."The 925-MW net licensing is intentional, prioritizing replicability, regulatory confidence, and execution discipline," the company added. The company said the CANDU Monark is designed to meet the needs of domestic nuclear-utility clients. It focuses on using proven technology, regulatory familiarity, and execution certainty. The company added that the reactor could potentially be increased to about 1,000 MW in the future. This would depend on decisions by the owner, the specific site, and regulatory approval. "This uprate potential is enabled through well-understood design margins, turbine-generator selection, and balance-of-plant-optimization, rather than unproven core design changes."The company's shares were last seen down $0.86 to $92.44 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.Price: $92.59, Change: $-0.71, Percent Change: -0.76%
