Chilwa Minerals (ASX:CHW) said portable X-ray fluorescence results for a drill hole at its Lake Chilwa license in Malawi indicated niobium mineralization increases from 240 meters downhole, with the alkaline syenite reporting 0.165% grade of niobium pentoxide over 16.5 meters from 240 meters downhole to the end of the hole at 401.5 meters, according to a Friday Australian bourse filing.It encountered 0.228% grade of niobium pentoxide over 22 meters from 349.5 meters downhole.It noted that the X-ray fluorescence values are indicative only and are from pressed pulverized powder pulp following sample preparation at its in-house sample prep facility in Malawi.Its shares fell 8% in recent trading on Friday.

Chilwa Minerals Identifies New Heavy Mineral Sands Target in Malawi

Chilwa Minerals (ASX:CHW) said hand augering and panning of material from shallow pits supported by interpreted geophysics identified a new heavy mineral sands target at Mpyupyu West in Malawi, within two kilometers of its Nakombe niobium-rare earth element discovery, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.Mpyupyu West target covers an area of around five square kilometers. The exploration efforts also identified a potential extension to the identified resources at Bimbi and Bimbi Northeast.After a break in drilling due to Malawi's rainy season, resource drilling restarted with two sonic drill rigs.

Chilwa Minerals (ASX:CHW) confirmed "substantial" niobium mineralization over an entire drillhole from its Lake Chilwa license in Malawi, with an average of 0.17% niobium pentoxide over 385 meters from surface, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.Portable X-ray fluorescence results showed that higher-grade niobium zones, notably 0.24% niobium pentoxide over 60 meters, are situated within specific rock types that are traced between drillholes, the filing said.Further results will be available in the near term, alongside additional results from the remaining nine drill holes at the Nakombe target, per the filing.Shares fell 1% in midday trade on Tuesday.
