Westport Fuel Systems Joint Venture Finalizes Volvo Hydrogen Engine Deal

Westport Fuel Systems (WPRT) said Thursday its joint venture, Cespira, signed an agreement with Volvo Group to complete a hydrogen-fueled engine system.

The contract focuses on integrating and commercializing direct injection fuel technology for a 13-liter vehicle engine that runs on hydrogen, the company said.

The vehicle is currently undergoing active road trials on transport trucks with an expected European commercial launch before 2030, it said.

Shares of the company were up over 62% in Thursday premarket activity.
