Vitrafy Life Sciences (ASX:VFY) entered a partnership with Hoxworth Blood Center in the US to expand the firm's cryopreservation ecosystem in response to the end-of-life of legacy red blood cell cryopreservation technology, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
The firm said it was working to address red blood cell cryopreservation workflows resulting from the discontinuation of critical legacy technology starting in 2027. The agreement is not expected to generate revenue.
Under the partnership, Vitrafy and Hoxworth will both contribute resources and support in addressing this threat. Vitrafy will initially place one cryopreservation freezing and software package at Hoxworth during the first half of fiscal year 2027.
Its shares jumped 11% in recent trading on Thursday.
