US new single family home sales are expected to rise to a 640,000 annual rate in May based on a survey compiled by Bloomberg, after falling to a 622,000 annual rate in April.
Sales would be above the 622,000 annual rate reported in May 2025.
The data are scheduled to be released at 10:00 am ET Wednesday.
Supply of new homes for sale was below its year-ago level in last month's report for March, even as prices were higher.
Single-family existing home sales rose 3.5% in May, according to data released on May 9, and were up 3.3% from a year ago.
Recent mortgage application data from the Mortgage Bankers Association indicated that mortgage rates rose earlier in May before falling at the end of the month.
Home building data for April released on June 16 showed declines in building permits, housing starts and home completions.
The National Association of Home Builders reported on June 15 that builder sentiment rose to 37 in May from 34 in April before declining to 35 in June, noting continued affordability challenges.
