The US and Iran will sign a peace deal on Friday, after which the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, US President Donald Trump said Sunday evening.
"The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete," Trump wrote in a post on the Truth Social platform, ordering the immediate end of the US naval blockade of Iranian ports as the parties reached a framework to end the war.
The preliminary pact also includes the "immediate and permanent stop of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon," according to a post on X, formerly Twitter, from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The official signing will take place in Switzerland, Sharif added.
