Biofuels feedstock futures closed mixed on Monday after soybeans ended flat, despite support from another day of flash sales announced by the US Department of Agriculture.
The Chicago Board of Trade November soybean futures contract closed unchanged at $12.88 per bushel, while the CBOT October soybean oil futures contract settled 0.01% higher at 70.83 cents per pound.
The Nymex October ethanol futures contract settled 1.49% higher on Friday at $2.04 per gallon.
Rhett Montgomery, a DTN analyst, said that the market closed the month softer after a sharp rally through the second half of the month.
"Corn and soybeans were much more resilient to open the week, alternating between marginally higher and lower trade before ultimately settling higher by the close," Montgomery said.
He added that soybeans climbed back to unchanged on the day despite mixed price action in product markets at the start of the new week.
"After a friendly start to August in terms of precipitation for much of the US soybean belt, conditions have shifted to hot and dry, which looks to be the prevailing pattern over the next two weeks as well," the analyst said.
USDA announced on Monday sales of 159,000 metric tons of soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations during the 2026/2027 marketing year.
