(Updates with Whole Foods' response to a request for comment in the last paragraph.)
The request by Amazon's (AMZN) Whole Foods for a review of the January 2025 vote by workers at a Philadelphia store location to unionize was denied Monday by the US National Labor Relations Board.
"The Employer's Request for Review of the Regional Director's Decision and Certification of Representative is denied as it raises no substantial issues warranting review," the NLRB said. "The Employer's request for extraordinary relief is denied as moot."
"We strongly disagree with the Board's conclusion," a Whole Foods spokesperson told. "As previously stated, and as demonstrated throughout last year's hearing-including with first-hand testimony from various witnesses-restrictions on free speech and the union's illegal conduct interfered with our Team Members' right to a fair vote at our Philly Center City Store."
