The combined count of crude oil, natural gas, and miscellaneous rigs in the US rose by one to 588 in the week ending July 31, according to data from Baker Hughes (BKR) released Friday.
The US oil rig count increased by one from 450 the previous week to 451, while the number of gas rigs remained unchanged at 127, the data showed.
The number of miscellaneous rigs in the US remained the same at 10. The US had 410 oil, 124 gas, and six miscellaneous rigs in operation a year earlier.
The consolidated North American oil and gas rig count, a key early indicator of future production levels, increased by 16 to 807 from 791 the previous week.
