US President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned that Iran will have to pay the price after having taken too long to negotiate a peace deal, in a further escalation in the Iran conflict.
"The bully of the Middle East is dead!!! They've taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Crude oil prices reversed earlier losses to rise by over 1% following Trump's post, which comes amid the latest escalation in the conflict as Iran attacked US-linked targets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
This was in retaliation to the US strikes in southern Iran following an attack on a US Apache helicopter.
Brent crude was up 1.34% at 92.68 a barrel.
