Trial Holdings' (TYO:141A) same-store sales in August gained 3.5% year on year, according to a Thursday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The discount retailer said average spending per shopper rose 0.9%, while customer count rose 2.6% in August.
All-store sales jumped 8.6% year-over-year during the month.
The number of stores increased to 381 after the opening of a new outlet.
Shares of Trial Holdings fell nearly 4% at market close.
