Toyota Motor (TM) said Thursday it is recalling about 16,200 model year 2026 bZ and Lexus RZ vehicles in North America due to a safety issue.
The automaker said a potential error in the battery electronic control unit can shut down the electric drive system, possibly causing motive power loss while driving at a higher speed and increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will update the battery ECU software free of charge and owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mid-August, the company said.
