Hong Kong-based Towngas Smart Energy reported a surge in electricity sales and trading volumes in its H1 2026 results on Monday.
The company reported a 12% year-over-year increase in photovoltaic electricity sales, at 1.32 billion kilowatt-hours during the first half of this year, while electricity trading volumes doubled to 7.23 billion kWh.
It also added 0.2 gigawatts of grid-connected distributed photovoltaic capacity during the period, bringing its total installed capacity to 3 GW.
Assets under management increased by 0.66 GW to 1.5 GW, with the company highlighting that it was well positioned across integrated storage, independent energy storage and direct green power supply.
The company, however, faced headwinds in its natural gas business in mainland China, which it attributed to the incomplete recovery in the Chinese property market, along with lower consumption due to a warmer winter.
