Top cryptocurrencies fell Thursday, with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) dropping below $74,000.
The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks dozens of digital assets including Bitcoin, fell almost 1.6% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq 100 rose 0.8%, the S&P 500 increased 0.6%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.1%.
Bitcoin dropped 2% to $73,404, according to CoinMarketCap data. The most popular cryptocurrency's 24-hour trading volume surged 28.6% to $41.56 billion.
Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest digital asset by market value, dropped 1.8% to $2,016.
XRP (XRP-USD) fell 0.7%, BNB (BNB-USD) declined 1.9%, and Solana (SOL-USD) shed 1.8%. Dogecoin (DOGE-USD) dropped 1.9%, and Cardano (ADA-USD) lost 2.3%.
The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry fell 2.1% in the past 24 hours to $2.54 trillion, with trading volume declining 1.8% to $149.03 billion.
