Thailand's trade deficit shrank to $5.71 billion in May from $10 billion in April, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.
The latest figure, however, ballooned from a $1.12 billion deficit in the same month a year earlier, but was lower than the consensus forecast of $6.6 billion in deficit tracked by Trading Economics.
Exports rose 10.6% year over year to $34.3 billion, softer than the 23% jump in April, while imports increased 35.1% to $40 billion, also easing from a 45% rise in April.
