Thai Rayon Associate to Temporarily Pause Pulp Operations in Nackawic, Canada

Thai Rayon's (SET:TR) associate, AV Group NB will temporarily idle its pulp operations facility in Nackawic, New Brunswick, Canada, around the end of October, according to a Friday filing.

The facility has an annual production capacity of around 190,000 tons of dissolving-grade pulp.

The decision follows continuing challenges from prevailing market conditions and broader macroeconomic factors, while AV Group will continue to monitor market and business conditions.

The company's other pulp mill in Atholville, Canada, is not affected by the decision, it said.

Eternity Investment (HKG:0764) unit Eternity Finance and executive director Lei Hong Wai agreed to sell around 169 million and 18.7 million respective shares in China Healthwise (HKG:0348).The shares, representing an 18.3% and 2% stake in China Healthwise, respectively, were sold to Hwa Sheng International Investment at HK$0.08 apiece, a Friday bourse filing showed.The company will receive a consideration of around HK$13.5 million from the disposal and cease to hold any stake in China Healthwise following completion.Proceeds will be used to repay a margin loan, as well as for general working capital.
