Telesat (TSAT.TO), up 6.2% on last look, said Thursday it commissioned the first European ground-based station, or gateway, for the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation.
The gateway will be hosted within Orange's teleport in France, and will support the deployment of the first 225 satellites that will form the constellation, a statement added.
Orange, a large telecommunications company, will also provide ground segment connectivity through a secure high-speed network connecting the station to Telesat's planned point of presence (PoP) in Paris.
Telesat shares were last seen up CA$4.20, to CA$72.66, on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
