Telesat (TSAT.TO) signed a collaboration agreement with Cailabs US to explore the integration of optical inter-satellite links for the US Government and allied missions.
Under the terms, the companies will explore collaboration involving Telesat's Lightspeed low Earth orbit spacecraft and Cailabs' production-ready optical ground systems, Telesat said Tuesday.
Telesat said the two companies will advance joint studies and demonstrations for potential opportunities, including space data relay services.
"We believe that combining Telesat Lightspeed with Cailabs' mature optical ground capabilities creates the potential to offer differentiated solutions designed for the demanding, sovereign connectivity requirements of U.S. and Allied missions," said Chuck Cynamon, president of Telesat Government Solutions.
