Tata Power, one of India's largest electric utilities, highlighted Monday a significant expansion in its portfolio during Q1 to 12 gigawatts, including 5.3 GW that are currently under construction, compared to 10.9 GW during the same period a year ago.
Besides this, the company also installed 371-megawatt-peak of rooftop solar during the quarter.
Tata Power also advanced several long-term growth initiatives during the quarter. The company signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a 10-GW photovoltaic ingot and wafer manufacturing facility as it expands its domestic solar manufacturing footprint.
Besides this, it secured a 40-year contract from the Solar Energy Corporation of India to supply 324 MW of its planned 1-GW Bhivpuri pumped hydro storage project. It also highlighted its growing EV charging network, which now includes more than 240,000 home chargers and over 5,900 public, semi-public and fleet charging points.
In the legacy business, the company said that its 4,150-MW Mundra thermal power plant resumed full operations on April 1 under the Indian government's Section 11 directive, which has been extended through Sept. 30, as authorities seek to meet peak electricity demand.
