Taiwan's trade surplus expanded to $17.17 billion in July from $12.2 billion in June, according to data from the Ministry of Finance on Friday.
The latest figure was up 19.6% from the year ago and beat the consensus forecast of $16.5 billion in surplus, according to Investing.com.
Exports rose 32.9% year over year to $75.3 billion, missing the consensus forecast for a 40.7% growth.
Imports increased 37.4% to $58.13 billion. The consensus forecast was for a 48.4% rise.
