Taiwan's consumer confidence index rose to 65.01 in August from 64.58 in July, according to data released Thursday by National Central University's Taiwan Economic Development Research Center.
The reading slightly beat the Trading Economics forecast of 65.
The latest reading was driven by gains in four of the six sub-indicators, with future employment opportunities showing the largest increase.
Confidence in future price levels, household economic conditions, and domestic economic conditions also improved, while sentiment toward stock investment opportunities and purchases of durable goods declined.
