Taiwan moved up two places in the World Competitiveness Ranking to fourth place, according to an International Institute for Management Development (IMD) report released Thursday.
The country moved up to fifth place for economic performance and sixth place for government efficiency, while maintaining its fourth and tenth positions, respectively, for business efficiency and infrastructure, Switzerland-based IMD said.
Major challenges for Taiwan in 2026 revolve around enhancing its semiconductor and AI competitiveness, improving AI workforce, strengthening industry and technology cooperation, and leveraging 'Democracy, Economy, and Technology.'
