Singapore has welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran to end hostilities and establish a framework for further negotiations, according to an official statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
The ministry commended the mediatory role played by Pakistan and Qatar to broker an interim deal between the two sides, while also welcoming the commitment to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed the deal in France during the G7 summit, while the president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, signed the document on Wednesday.
