Taiwan Mask Unit in Talks to Buy Japanese Chip Equipment Service Provider

Taiwan Mask (TPE:2338) unit Everbright signed an exclusive letter of intent to acquire a 100% stake in a semiconductor equipment outsourcing service provider in Kumamoto, Japan, for up to 1 billion yen, according to a Wednesday Taiwan Exchange filing.

The proposed acquisition is aimed at expanding the group's global semiconductor presence and strengthening localized customer support.

Everbright will conduct due diligence before finalizing the transaction, with the purchase price and terms subject to adjustment based on the review.

China Southern Airlines Warns of Wider H1 Loss

China Southern Airlines (HKG:1055, SHA:600029) expects an attributable net loss of 3.47 billion yuan to 3.97 billion yuan for the first half, widening from 1.53 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.The company attributed the expected loss to sharply higher aviation fuel costs amid geopolitical tensions, despite growth in passenger traffic and revenue during the first half.Hong Kong-listed shares of the airline were down nearly 2% in Wednesday morning trade.
