The Swiss government intends to amend regulations to streamline recognition of US safety and manufacturing standards for medical devices and passenger cars to meet its obligations under a November 2025 preliminary trade agreement with Washington.
In a Tuesday release, Switzerland's Federal Council said that by easing import friction for American products, it expects the US to honor its reciprocal tariff commitments to help stabilize bilateral trade relations.
According to the Federal Council, the measures also cover government procurement and US conformity assessment bodies. Negotiations on a legally binding trade agreement between the two countries are ongoing.
