The Swiss National Bank (SNBN.SW) on Thursday held its policy rate at 0%, noting that while recent price growth came in higher than expected due to oil prices, inflationary pressure over the medium term rose "only slightly."
The decision aligns with market forecasts.
Switzerland's annual inflation rate trended upward since the previous monetary policy assessment in June, rising to 0.8% in August from 0.6% in May.
Amid rising energy prices, the SNB increased its conditional inflation estimate for 2026 to 0.7% from 0.6%. Meanwhile, inflation in 2027 is now projected at 0.8%, up from 0.6%, while the rate in 2028 is estimated to rise to 0.8% from 0.7%.
