Strathcona Resources (SCR.TO) reported Q2 operating earnings of C$376 million, or $1.76 per share, from C$225 million a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected C$1.90.
Oil and natural gas sales for the quarter ended June 30 jumped to C$1.49 billion from C$1.21 billion a year ago.
Analysts expected C$1.21 billion.
The company recorded Q2 production of 117,022 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), down from 181,368 boe/d in the previous year.
Strathcona said its board declared a dividend of C$0.30 per share, to be paid Sept. 21 to shareholders of record on Sept. 11.
