South Korea's GDP grew 3.8% year over year in the first quarter, according to preliminary data released by the Bank of Korea on Tuesday.
The pace of growth was faster than the 1.6% expansion recorded in the previous quarter, exceeding the consensus forecast for a 3.6% growth, according to Investing.com.
On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the economy expanded 1.8%, rebounding from the 0.1% contraction in the previous quarter. It also topped the consensus forecast of 1.7%.
