The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in South Korea in April edged up to 2.8% from 2.7% in March, data from Statistics Korea indicated Wednesday.
On an annual basis, the unemployment rate remained unchanged.
The number of unemployed people fell to 853,000 in April from 854,000 a year earlier.
The number of employed people increased by 74,000 to hit 28.96 million last month from 28.9 million in the year-ago period.
