South Korea's headline inflation rate quickened to 3.1% in August from 2.8% in July, according to data from the Ministry of Data and Statistics published Wednesday.
The latest print missed the market consensus forecast of 3.2%, according to Investing.com.
On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices inched up 0.2%, reversing the 0.2% decline the previous month.
Meanwhile, the country's core inflation rate, which excludes food and energy prices, accelerated to 3.4% from 2.6% in July. Month-over-month core inflation eased to 0.2% from 0.4%.
