SLB (SLB) and Equinor (EQNR) signed a multi-year agreement for advanced reservoir stimulation services across the Norwegian Continental Shelf, including a major upgrade of the MV Island Captain well stimulation vessel, the companies said Thursday.
The upgrade will convert the vessel into a fully proppant-capable stimulation vessel with expanded proppant storage, advanced handling and blending systems, increased pumping capacity, and an optimized deck layout.
The vessel will be able to carry up to 2 million pounds of proppant for high-intensity offshore stimulation treatments, the companies said.
The companies said the agreement secures dedicated capacity to support development of tight offshore reservoirs and help maximize recovery from future wells.
