Sino-American Silicon (TPE:5483) has formed a joint venture with United Renewable Energy (TPE:3576) to build a solar module manufacturing plant in the US, with a proposed investment of around $40 million, according to a Tuesday statement.
The JV is estimated to have an annual production capacity of 1GW.
Under the agreement, Sino-American Silicon will hold a 51% stake in the proposed joint venture and United Renewable will own the remaining 49%.
The partnership will strengthen local supply capabilities, meet the huge electricity demand of AI data centers, and seize business opportunities in the US energy transition, the statement said.
