Singapore shares surged on Tuesday as investor sentiment drove a rebound in the chipmaker sector.
The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,493.02 and 5,543.89 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,526.72, up 27.77 points or 0.5% compared to Monday's close.
On the corporate front, shares of HS Optimus (SGX:504) surged nearly 17% at the close as it completed the acquisition of a 30% stake in Medicorp and issued 185.2 million shares to the seller.
Frasers Centrepoint Trust (SGX:J69U) secured a tender for a mixed-use commercial and residential site at Bayshore Drive in Singapore for SG$2.1 billion.
Meanwhile, Aedge Group's (SGX:XVG) subsidiary, IPF Investments, exercised an option to acquire a freehold property in Singapore for SG$7.5 million.
