Singapore's trade surplus rose to SG$13.8 billion in August from the revised SG$10.9 billion in the prior month, according to data from Statistics Singapore released on Thursday.
The latest print exceeded Trading Economics' SG$11 billion forecast.
Total merchandise exports increased by 49.2% year over year, sharper than the 40.5% growth recorded in the previous month.
Meanwhile, imports rose 39.3% year over year, compared with the 35.9% growth in the preceding month.
