Singapore's Commercial Affairs Department on Wednesday charged two serving Singapore Kitchen Equipment (SGX:5WG) seniors, including the company's chief executive and former finance chief, with multiple offenses in court.
The department, which investigates white collar crime, alleged the company's chief executive Chua Chwee Choo, senior manager Koh Sai Eng, and former chief financial officer Chow Mei Ling made false representations to Singapore Kitchen's auditor BDO LLP between February and March 2021 in relation to bonuses paid by Q'son Kitchen Equipment, the company's main operating subsidiary.
Specifically, the trio allegedly falsified more than 100 payment vouchers belonging to QKE to purport that the bonuses were paid in January 2020, even when they weren't.
Chow was further charged with omitting certain payments totaling SG$1.4 million in prior years, resulting in the company making false statements about its profitability.
Meanwhile, Singapore Kitchen said both Chua and Koh were on bail and were scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
The firm also said that both employees would continue serving in their respective positions pending further developments in the matter.
