Shanghai International Airport's Two Airports Log Lower Passenger Throughput in June

Shanghai International Airport (SHA:600009) logged decreases in its passenger throughput at the Pudong and Hongqiao airports in June, according to a Wednesday filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Passenger throughput at the Pudong airport slipped 0.6% year over year to 6.9 million, while cargo throughput rose 18% to 400,500 tons and the number of flights slipped 1.2% year over year to 44,342.

At the Hongqiao airport, passenger throughput decreased 0.8% to more than 4 million, while cargo throughput jumped 3.7% to 375,000 tons, and aircraft movements slid 0.4% to 22,715.

China Southern Airlines Warns of Wider H1 Loss

China Southern Airlines (HKG:1055, SHA:600029) expects an attributable net loss of 3.47 billion yuan to 3.97 billion yuan for the first half, widening from 1.53 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.The company attributed the expected loss to sharply higher aviation fuel costs amid geopolitical tensions, despite growth in passenger traffic and revenue during the first half.Hong Kong-listed shares of the airline were down nearly 2% in Wednesday morning trade.
