According to the report, regulators are questioning global banks on exposures to firms such as Jane Street and Citadel Securities, focusing on risk appetite, intraday exposure changes and risk controls. The scrutiny follows Jane Street's reported $15 billion July loss as the AI rally reversed, including multibillion-dollar losses tied to Situational Awareness, the report added.In corporate news, JPMorgan's (JPM) asset management division and Qatar Investment Authority said Monday they have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a $20 billion partnership, spanning public and private markets in both equities and credit. JPMorgan shares added 0.7%.Coinbase (COIN) said Monday it is now offering access to initial public offering allocations for retail traders in the US. Coinbase said that, starting with Oura's (OURA) IPO this week, eligible clients will be able to request shares at the offer price before open-market trading begins. Coinbase shares gained 3.4%.Carlyle (CG) is preparing for the potential initial public offering of its Highway Roop Precision Technologies unit, which could raise up to $400 million, Bloomberg reported. Carlyle shares were up 2.3%.Apollo Global Management (APO) is close to securing a 16% stake in the New York Yankees through a $2.6 billion debt and equity investment valuing the franchise at over $12 billion, the New York Post reported. Energy stocks declined late Monday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index falling 1.7% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) dropping 1.8%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index shed 0.6%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index lost 0.5%.In geopolitical news, Iran and the US exchanged new threats on Sunday, although President Donald Trump said he would be open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is expected to be in New York this week for the UN General Assembly, according to Reuters. "Middle East oil flows remain surprisingly resilient despite the disruption to Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline," Reuters cited JPMorgan analysts in a Friday note. "The most notable shift has come from Saudi Arabia," the analysts said, noting that satellite data showed Saudi oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz averaged 2.9 million barrels per day over the past six days, compared with just 700,000 barrels per day in August.West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 4.4% to $95.89 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent crude declined 3.2% to $100.51 a barrel.
