Healthcare stocks were mixed pre-bell Thursday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) 0.5% lower and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) up 0.6%.
Ionis Pharmaceuticals (IONS) and partner AstraZeneca (AZN) said a phase 3 trial for eplontersen in patients with transthyretin-mediated amyloid cardiomyopathy, or ATTR-CM, failed to meet the primary efficacy endpoint. Shares of Astrazeneca were down more than 7% and Ionis Pharmaceuticals stock fell past 19% premarket.
Greenwich LifeSciences (GLSI) shares were up more than 7% after the company said the European Medicines Agency cleared the use of commercially manufactured GP2 in a phase 3 trial evaluating GLSI-100 to prevent breast cancer recurrence in Europe.
Natera (NTRA) said its Signatera molecular residual disease test received European Union In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation Class C certification for use across multiple solid tumor types. Shares of Natera were down more than 1% pre-bell.
