The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was 2.3% higher and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was down 1.9%.
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) shares were up more than 1% after the company posted higher fiscal Q1 earnings and revenue.
