Energy stocks were leaning lower pre-bell Friday, with the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) declining by 0.1%.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.2% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.9% higher.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 0.2% lower at $86.64 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.1% to reach $93.70 per barrel, and natural gas futures were up 1.6% at $2.78 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
TotalEnergies (TTE) and CMA CGM received European Commission approval to create a joint venture focused on liquefied natural gas bunkering logistics services, the Commission said. Shares of TotalEnergies were 0.2% lower premarket.
Equinor (EQNR) Energy has exercised its one-year option for the Havila Troll vessel, extending the charter through November 2027, Havila Shipping said. Equinor shares were 0.2% higher pre-bell.
Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR), or Petrobras, said it has entered direct negotiations for exploration contracts covering four offshore blocks in Ghana's Keta Basin after the country's Ministry of Energy and Green Transition approved its application. Petrobras stock was up 0.2% premarket.
